This firm is one of the worse I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with.
My brother in law moved into a new home in November, and the phone was already there. To save changing anything, he stayed with this firm and no problems.
Until yesterday.........for no reason at all, the phone wouldn't dial out and no one could phone him.
He tried to ring them from his mobile, but after hanging on for 20 minutes, he gave up because of the cost, and phoned us to ask that we report the fault on the line for him.
(It was an 0800 number, but chargeable from mobile phones).
First of all my husband tried to ring - he hung on for 48 minutes, and finally got through to a half wit at a call centre. My OH explained the whole thing and asked that the fault be reported. The CC guy asked if my husband was the bill payer.......as OH had just explained who the phone belonged to, not sure what bit he found hard to understand.........OH explained the BIL couldn't phone them, and that we were just reporting a fault on the line.......CC guy refused to discuss anything at all..and then the CC guy then said he could transfer OH to tech dept, but that they wouldn't speak to him either.
OH went barmy at him and hung up.
I then phoned them...............hung on for 37 minutes and got another guy. I told him I was the bill payer and he agreed to talk to me. He then said that tech dept couldn't cope with demand and he'd have to mail them and ask them to ring and discuss the phone with *me*.
I gave them BIL's mobile number.
Last night BIL phoned - Post Office phones had indeed phoned..............and said that they had accidentally disconnected him from their exchange (or whatever).
BIL requested that phone be put back on....and was informed by this lousy firm that this would take a fornight as it had to go through all the departments as a new account (eh???)
They wouldn't budge from this and BIL hung up in the end.
BIL then phoned BT and they will put him online, with the same phone number, on Tuesday.:T
As the Post office seem incapable of even delivering letters reliably, what fool though they could run a phone/internet service?

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

You've got to love idiots who think arguing, abuse and claiming to be people your not will get you anywere
You commited a fraud by pretending to be the billpayer
The original half wit was in fact correct
It was a mistake and poor service but your as stupid for complaining about things that were your own deception0 -

No they did not - I suggest that you go and look up the definition of fraud, then go back to hibernating, didn't think trolls liked the cold!!!0 -

intentional deception resulting in injury to another person
imposter: a person who makes deceitful pretenses
something intended to deceive; deliberate trickery intended to gain an advantage
I'd say the second and last definitons pretty much covered pretending to be someone else!0 -
Just wanted to say sorry your BIL has had some problems with them but i am with Post Office phone and I have always found them really good, and they are loads cheaper than BT!MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740

Now try narrowing your search to UK not world wide:
Fraud
Obtaining property by deception, with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

You obviously haven't read the post - the problem existed before I told them anything, and was only semi sorted after I "decieved" them - read it again lol:rolleyes:
Fraud is only ever fraud if it involves monetary gain - reporting a fault on a phone line doesn't...........:rotfl:
My husband told them who he was, and that he merely wanted to report a fault on their line.
With every other phone provider anyone can report a fault - it doesn't involve any confidential information being given out, and merely involves their techies seeing what the problem is.
BIL and wife couldn't report it, as they had already hung on for half an hour on a mobile waiting for the not so bright sparks at the call centre to answer, and it was costing a fortune (perhaps if they picked up the phone quicker, everyone could ring by mobile).
When they finally phoned the bill payer back, they said THEY had disconnected them accidentally, but it would take a fortnight to put it back - how efficient.
Not.
BT promised to connect them on Tuesday, which they did, with no fuss at all, and they kept the same number.
Obviously, Post Office also agreed with me, as BIL, after writing to them on Saturday, informing them that he was terminating the contract and paying nothing else, had a phone call from a manager yesterday apologising for the fact the whole thing had been dealt with so badly and that the response to my husband phoning had "fallen far below what they expect of their staff".
PO phones have also said they will reimburse the cost of the original calls from BIL's mobile.
Perhaps the twit that my husband first spoke to will now be given proper training and they can, in the future, supply a decent service, when things go wrong..:T
BIL has decided to stick with BT now anyway.

Fraud doesn't have to involve monetary loss but the person must be trying to gain by making the representatin or trying to make another person al oss of some kind.Fraud by false representation
(1) A person is in breach of this section if he—
(a) dishonestly makes a false representation, and
(b) intends, by making the representation—
(i) to make a gain for himself or another, or
(ii) to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
