SpaceX IPO

While this whole discussion has veered totally off-topic, I think we can't dismiss discussion of Musk as "political" or even adjacent to it; he's the CEO of 2 major companies, one of which is about to have an IPO (the value of which it seems we all agree is mostly about "sentiment") and of which he will remain the controlling owner; he has to be discussed. And I would say that characterising him as a "raving lunatic" is within arguable parameters, just as "marvellous visionary" is. His behaviour is well beyond that of other CEOs/owners.
And I believe that the moderators, like those on most forums, are mostly concerned about insults or attacks on other forum members, rather than on public figures. When they suspect comments are about us, not about someone in the news or an amorphous group elsewhere, they're far more likely to take action.

It's palpably incorrect as the offending post using those words has been deleted. I'm assuming, by the moderators as it was vaporised at the same time as mine.
What you effectively mean in my opinion, is that irrational offensive posts about people you disagree with are perfectly acceptable.
And the valuation of spacex, and Musk's impact on it have nothing to do with the actual question in the OP, how can a British person participate in an US IPO (specifically, spacex in this case).
As I alluded to previously, when someone posts such a thing, as a bottom of the hierarchy forumite there are two options if you want to do something tangible. React to it via the written word, continuing the OT debate, or report it. However, reporting it only works in each instance if moderation is consistently applied. To be fair, one variable I don't know is if my report had been assessed by a moderator by the time that I decided to contribute to the thread.

The following article from Fortune magazine may not put off the OP's desire to invest in Spacex, but perhaps should give him pause to reflect on the elaborate 'smoke and mirrors' disguising exactly where the freshly raised equity capital is destined to go -
From my perspective the insatiable needs of xAI will inevitably mean Musk returning to the markets (sooner rather than later) for more equity capital and debt finance, which must ultimately weigh on investor returns.

Just received an email from HL saying that UK investors can take part in the SpaceX IPO through HL.

For what it's worth, for the OP, Hargreaves Lansdown reckon they "should" be able to apply for shares for HL customers (which seems remarkably vague for an IPO said to be aiming for a June 12th debut):
If the IPO takes place, UK investors should be able to apply for shares with HL.
…
UK investors should have the option to apply for shares with HL, if the proposed IPO goes ahead.
Whenever companies list through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), we strive to let you invest from day one.
…
We attempt to cover all IPOs available to UK retail investors. But due to the size and specialist nature of certain IPOs, this isn’t always possible.
SpaceX IPO: what UK investors need to know | HL
I'd think there's a fair chance ii will hope to do the same, but so far (11 days to go …) they don't seem to have said anything.

etoro also seem to be indicating that if their is a Retail offer UK retail investors may be able to apply through them
"Register your interest with eToro to receive updates if there is a SpaceX IPO retail offer….If Marex Financial offers shares in SpaceX through its role as POP Operator, eligible UK retail investors may be able to apply through a Permitted Intermediary"

Here's a useful general page for all the intermediaries whose clients can have a go - Winterflood, which is a division of Marex, is handling the UK retail offer:
SpaceX: proposed IPO | Winterflood Securities
at the bottom, there are links to the intermediaries' pages on SpaceX, including HL, ii, eToro, AJ Bell and more.

Did you manage to get involved in the end?
Gone pretty well for anyone taking part in the subscription, looking at a gain of 28% currently.

It seems to have gone down since you posted :p Currently up 19%, which is nothing to be sniffed at but given allocations were limited above £2k I doubt anyone will have been made a millionaire (solely) on this debut.

28% is a fair lick but IPOs should be priced to get away, I've not looked for US data but it doesn't sound unique I think Royal Mail was similar. Can't say I concur with the X valuations but what do I know? I've sworn off US shares for a few years but it did look an easy magical buck to this disinterested observer.
