Fair Fund Notice - Barclays Bank
I'm in the UK, had Barclays ordinary shares a while back but sold them all, only had £500 worth. Pretty sure I bought them before 2019 so this might mean nothing to me. But got a card through the post the other day that appears to be relating to a class account being done in America. It states "This is an important notice about a Fair Fund distribution".
Looking to me its just like those PPI claims companies, but American based.
I assume I can just ignore it considering I probably can't claim anything due to buying the shares before 2019. Claims there is a $200 million Fair Fund to distribute funds to harmed investors. You may be eligible for payment".

I got one of these today too, addressed to my deceased father, however I still own the shares.
I'm thinking junk mail especially as being dealt with in states and all in dollars but i'd be interested to know what others think.

All US stuff posted from the Netherlands.
Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
I got one too. I have a tiny Barclays shareholding from staff share distribution in the early 2000’s my instincts are screaming that this is a scam.
Still waiting to win a dream holiday...0 -
I received one last week. I have checked various news sites and the action appears to be legit
There is and article in Bloomberg but I am unable to read the whole page and unable to copy the link as Im a newbie :-(
This Stock Titan site also refers to it , and also mentions the same website as the card to claim through.
The other concern it does mention a Nov 25 deadline so could it be over and done with or they have extended the date??

I am certain that this is totally legitimate.
Barclays oversold shares and deposits in contravention of their agreement and were fined and told to recompense investors. This is being dealt with by a sort of class action (Fair Fund distribution) which is what the card notices are for. They will have got your details from the Registrars, so, even if you have recently sold shares, they will contact you. It is up to you whether to claim. The US Securities and Exchange Commission are the route, not any other "claims assistance" people, and it won't cost you anything to claim, and there will be no deductions for costs.Look it up on legitimate sites to give you confidence to clim if you have purchased Barclays PLC shares in the quoted period. Do it by 5th August 2026.

My dad has received one of these, I think it is genuine, but just trawling through the paperwork to see if he is eligible for this. Anyone got a shortcut for this?

Anyone know what you are likely to get back per ordinary share acquired with in the time frame stipulated?.
Just wondering if it is worth bothering with if you only acquired, lets say 200 ordinary shares in that time frame.

It should tell you in the pack but there are usually annoying formulas to work through. These sorts of settlements usually have a minimum payout threshold as well so if you only have a small number of qualifying shares it usually isn’t worth bothering with.
