Higher Rate Mobility Query
Hi Everyone,
I was hoping someone could help with this query. My stepson has autism and my girlfriend recently applied for the higher rate mobility for him.
This came back rejected, but she has appealed the decision. Just a little backround, we don't live together currently, but will be soon. She doesn't work because of the hours she needs to be at home for him and I do work, but hours change from week to week. (Retail).
With him being autistic, he has no awareness of danger when it comes to crossing the road and dealing with members of the public most of the time. He can be very socially distance and can become extreamly stressed over the smallest thing. This is so hard to see and can be extreamly hard to calm him down and put things into pospective for him. He is mobile and already recieves DLA, but we are concerned for his saftey everytime were out as he can run off. He suppose he wants some independence which is a good thing of course, but you need to have eyes in the back of your head at all times.
I just wanted to ask if anyone had a similar experience and how you went about things and what were your outcomes?
Any advice and input would be helpful.
Thank you for reading.
