I agree, great post. Our children have seen the stress at first hand that our financial situation has caused and have been on the receiving end of grumpy parents snapping at them for no reason because we were preoccupied with thinking about our debt 24/7 and hopefully we can guide them to avoid our mistakes. I know we have learnt a HUGE lesson and look at things in a totally different light now.We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!0 -
I think the creditor that petitioned for our bankruptcy regrets it a lot more than we do. We were working ridiculous hours to keep on top of debts that were accruing as a result of our business that was struggling and haemorrhaging cash.
We were determined not to declare bankruptcy and didn't really believe the creditor was serious until it actually happened. It was a huge and instant relief, and even though it's been a difficult period, and there have been some anxious moments, I have to say that it's given us the chance to take stock of our situation and take life easier.
I can understand why people feel that there is some stigma attached to bankruptcy but it never bothered us in the slightest. It's a temporary setback that's given us the time to evaluate our priorities and appreciate the important things in life.

Good thread this one, and reading makes me realise how similar a situation I am and have been in in comparison to most who have posted.
I took on debts that where very manageable, me and my fiance paid them on the ball every time, we always overpaid to cc companies and had no problems with them, The problems came when we realised that paying these bills and working so much meant we'd drifted apart, we tried to get ourselves back on track for the sake of us and the kids but sadly we couldn't do it.
I do regret that we couldn't do it, I do regret not planning for every eventuality and I do regret not facing the problem sooner.
I have No regrets with going Br and It's the best thing I could have done to solve my financial problems because working my !!! off and never seeing my kids and never having holidays and never doing the important things in life certainly didn't work.
I still have feelings of guilt and failure about my situation but only on low days, I'm sure these will pass as time goes on.
thanks for listening, I got on 1 there sorry.
IanI had debts, my circumstances changed, I tried but couldn't pay them, I dealt with them in the best way I could.........
