M&S threatening letter saying account will be closed- overdue payment 0.00 (yes ZERO)
Hi M&S sent be a threating to close my account in 14 days if I don't pay an overdue amount of "0.00" yes ZERO.
It doesn't fill me with confidence with HSBC takeover! I have tried calling them but hard to get through and the app is horrible, AI garbage responses.
Shall I leave it or risk an account closure and ruined credit over 0.00? There systems are just awful obviously. I used to work in IT and aware how bad banking systems are and daft things happen!

I had exactly the same from BT....a final demand for £0.00 . My solution was to send them a cheque for £0.00....it did the trick.
I framed the BT final demand for £0.00 and hung it up on my office wall.

The crappy system is probably not crappy enough to allow you to make a payment of zero but how about a penny?
Might end up with the crappy system having a wobbly because your CC account is in credit but it's unlikely to trash your credit file.

There's probably a fraction of a penny due or something, and the system has rounded it down to zero.
As @flaneurs_lobster suggests, send them a penny. Although that would probably be in breach of T&Cs for putting the account in credit.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
Threatening letter…..........……You could consider going to the local press. They love a good story especially with a comical twist to it. It might be worth telling M&S first in case they want to send you a keep quiet offer to avoid bad publicity. I think your situation could have a bit more mileage in it yet.....you might not want to be bothered but you could have a lot of fun at M&S expense.

Risk getting a default entry on your credit file(s)?

Surely not if you pay the invoice ?....send a cheque for £0 .

Hence my suggestion of making a payment of 1p.

But that will cost 91p for 2nd class or £1.80 for 1st class.🤦♀️

Dont pay it then and just sit back & see what happens. 😀😀 I suspect it can only result in bad news but, you will have saved the price of a stamp.

Claim that back after a complaint.
