Euro Car Parks Appeal Rejected - Please Help

Hi, I'm new here so hello!

I feel bad to ask for help so soon.

I parked in a euro car park in Nottingham 11th April 2026. I parked for 17 minutes. I entered my reg into the payment machine upon my return but it said I did not need to pay and to leave the car park. It would not give me an option to pay.

I took a photo of this screen as evidence (attached). I received a parking fine, which I appealed and attached the photo with the appeal. They have rejected the appeal and told me to either pay the fine or appeal to POPLA.

I am appalled at their appeal process given that I have evidence that I tried to pay as per their instructions. I want to appeal to POPLA but I've also read that are basically in cahoots with Euro Car Parks and will more than likely reject the appeal. This seems illegal imho.

My questions are…

How can they reject my appeal when I quite clearly tried to pay and followed their on screen instructions to just leave?

Have I missed something on a technicality? I've analysed all the evidence with my AI platform and it cannot see anything that I did wrong.

What are the chances of POPLA agreeing with my appeal?

This all seems like a complete scam.

Thank you to anyone who can offer advice and support

I've had success with POPLA in the past, however, I cannot see why it would ever get to that point. You tried to pay, their equipment said you shouldn't, job done.

One of the experienced lot will be here soon to give you proper advice, but this seems to be so open and shut it is stupid

You should win at POPLA as long as you add the date & time metadata to this image AND you left immediately:

Hi, thank you for your advice. Here is the timestamp of my leaving the car park. So, I didn't leave immediately. I left 10 minutes after the timestamp on the ticket machine. Would this warrant me winning the appeal with POPLA? It took me 10 minutes to get back to the car, load up, then drive out. How would POPLA see this?

Again, thank you for your help.

The minimum grace period to leave at the end of an authorised parking period is 10 minutes, note the word minimum

So IMHO you would win at popla if argued correctly with those evidence pictures above ( timestamped )

Cheers mate. Submitted the POPLA appeal today. I'll report back. The BPA say you get a mandatory 10 minute grace period. I was within that 10 minutes. 9:51 to be precise.
