Staying nearby in June and planning a visit.

Anyone been who can advise whether we'd want a whole day there or a few hours? Trying to decide whether to book a meal with one of the hotels that offer free entry or if we'd be better paying the admission to have longer.

Also, has anyone eaten at the Portmerion hotel or Castell Deudreathe? I'll need to eat gluten free and hoping for reccommendation.

Thank you very much for any info.

I've been there a few times and the village is quite small so you could do it in a couple of hours. But it really depends if you also want to spend time exploring the beach and the woods, going into the shops and the cafes etc, or just chilling out on a bench, if so a visit could stretch to a whole day.

I've also eaten in both the hotel and the Castell. I don't recall them having guten free options (they do have a vegan menu) but I wasn't looking for it so I might not have noticed. However, they do have sample menus for both hotels on the Portmerion website, so it might be worth you taking a look.

    I hope that helps.

We ate at the Castell last year, arriving promptly, and then went into the village just after 1pm. We did everything we wanted to, so it worked for us.

The food was very good. The service was a bit sloppy. Let us know how you get on.

I loved it! A couple of hours if fine for the village, but all day if you want to fully explore the woods and beach.

You could spend a lot more time if there is an event but it makes it more busy and less good for photography. The village has an interesting history, a demonstration that buildings shouldn't detract from the countryside.
