IHT form 400 asking for copy of POA

Hi all, having returned the original and copies of the POA, I have discovered that the IHT form 400 requires a copy of the POA if you acted using it while the doner was alive. I don't have a copy of the reference either.

Has anyone else come across this and how do I get a copy? I think you have to pay if you request one, but wondered if the banks could give me a copy as they took a copy from the original when I applied to be POA.

Where did you read this? it is not amount the documents to include on the IHT checklist

Power of attorneyYou should answer ‘Yes’ to this question if the deceased had signed a general,enduring or lasting power of attorney and that power was used by the attorneyduring the deceased’s lifetime. A copy of the power of attorney should beenclosed with the form.

Thank you. I wonder why that is also not on the check list?

I think the OP needs to call the office of the public guardian to see if they can provide one.

If you are lucky the POA should have been set up with the help of a solicitor. Maybe they still hold a copy.

After sending the death certificate and old POA I think it got sent back along with the letter confirming it was now void. If you didn’t send it off long ago you may find the same.
