Advice and experience of wool duvets please

I'm thinking of getting a wool duvet as I'm fed up of my duvets getting clumped and trying to get mainly natural fibres. Some claim to be good in cold and warm weather.

I'd welcome experience and recommendations, particularly ones that can be washed at home , or if too large at the launderette.

Many thanks

Love my wool duvet :) I got mine from Woolroom the all season one and have had it just over 4 years. It is a 2 in one so can unpopper to have a summer and then swap to other for autumn then popper back together for winter. The way the filling is stitched means it does not move (can only say about my duvet - no idea if manufacturing has changed).

I was each duvet separately in my 7kg washing machine using a wool/silk specific liquid on a wool cycle and no softener - they have been washed several times and I cannot see/feel any difference to when new.

I am a cold person but find the duvets keep me warm and the weight is good for me being not too heavy but draping well to give me a hug. I would not go back and really glad I saved to get it but like everything it is an individual thing - this is just my experience :)

Final thing my cat loves it!

Looks like I have the same duvet as @Auti , from the same company too.

I wanted a quilt with more weight to it, than a synthetic, and as I can't have a down/feather one due to allergies, I thought I'd try a wool one.

I opted for the Woolroom brand, as you can do a 30 day trial on certain ones. Also, the All Season quilt, covered "all seasons", rather than deciding which tog equivalent to go for.

I love it. I've had it 2.5 years, and it's like new, even after washing. It's well sewn, and the press studs are big and don't come apart on their own.

Although it's heavy in weight, it's surprising thin, so easy to wash each half. I wash one half late in spring, then the other when I switch to the lightest weight.

Stores more easily than a synthetic quilt.

My only negative, is if it's sliding off my bed, I have a tendency to grab my quilt cover to yank it back on, so the quilt moves down inside the cover a bit. Just need to give it a shake the next day. I can live with that though.

    Highly recommend!

I have a couple of them. I test drove a Dunelm summer one first (okay but a bit crinkly) and then got a heavier more expensive one for the winter from Soak and Sleep - in the sale for cost reasons.

I certainly prefer them to the synthetic ones have had before in terms of temperature regulation. The heavy one has tendency to slide off the bed in the night which is a bit of a pain.
And I have realised they do trigger some allergies (although not as bad as the down one which nearly killed me ) which has been mostly resolved by shoving them in a duvet protector. I use nappy pins to keep them in place inside the duvet protector Duvet protector also minimise the need to wash it as often - the heavier one would need the launderette.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

absolutely love mine! A bit weightier than feather/down but the filling moves less so no cold spots. I think mine was from John Lewis

I have a fogarty from dunelm, and have used a king size one for 14 years. Just swapped to single duvets (much better sleep but that’s another story!) and I love them. I use it all year round except the height of summer when I move to a sheet. In winter we have an eiderdown as well.

We have a Baavet and really rate it. Our house must be well insulated, because the extra light version works for us all year round.

We later bought a Baavet mattress topper, and that is also highly recommended. By us and the cat.
