Claim From received from Smart Parking/DCB Legal

Hi everyone,

Apologies if this seems repetitive - I see you get a lot of posts like this but I'm quite flustered by all of this.

I’ve received a County Court claim relating to 2 parking fines from late 2024, but I never received any warning letters, notices, reminders, or anything prior to the court form arriving. This is the first I’ve heard about any of it.

The alleged incidents were quite a while ago now, and without any information or warnings sent to me during that time, I genuinely have no idea how I'm expected to respond to this.

The amount being claimed has shaken me up a bit. Over £400 for a 2 parking charges including legal fees seems very excessive.

The issue date was 12th May.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? I don't want to risk a CCJ over parking fines I was completely unaware of. I've attached a copy of the form to this post (with my personal details removed of course!)

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

FT

Definitely weren't fines, just speculative invoices by a private parking company, Smart

Login to your government gateway account and go to MCOL and complete the AOS online stage ASAP, so first

Then Copy and paste the template defence by member meltof that was posted on 12th April in the Smart parking group thread by member sluzz

Thanks for the reply, Gr1pr. Would that be this comment below?

Should I copy that in its entirety and submit it; no need to modify anything? I've seen some users adjust the Paragraph 3.

    Thanks again.

Adjust the paragraph 3 if its more appropriate for your case, as were a few today where coupon mad gave amended details

No other changes, copy, paste, save, submit

    Easy innit?!

Then bookmark and follow the 8 steps in the Template Defence thread.

With an issue date of 12/05/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS after 17/05/26 and before or on 31/05/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 15/06/26

    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your help so far. It was nowhere near as complicated as I expected. A few days ago, I received an N180 questionnaire. It has a deadline in just a couple of days.

Do you have any guidance of how I should fill this out? Also, is it possible to apply for an extension on this form? It arrived far later than it was dated.

    Much thanks.

Follow the 8 steps in the 1st post in the defence template sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad, as she mentioned above, same as the other hundreds of victims like yours

"Do you have any guidance of how I should fill this out?"

What, apart from the full guidance to filling out the N180, shown in those 8 steps you were already following in the Templare Defence thread?

No, we don't provide the same info twice!

    😀

"Also, is it possible to apply for an extension on this form?"

No need. It's a very simple form & you aren't filling out the paper version, or posting it.
