AEG oven cutting out
hi , we are out of warranty and the oven keeps cutting out. Now when it cuts out it’s tripping the electrics.
checking us £179 for the repair and the repairs are only guaranteed for 3 months! Have googled and there’s lots of threads for possibly a thermostat issue or fan issue on AEG ovens.
Anyone know of anyway we can get breakdown stats off manufacturers for number of faults/complaints. As wondering if there are lots of complaints / issues, then there’s a quality issue for shoddy goods and could possibly get AEG to replace/repair FOC after warranty if it’s a common problem, as they are expensive and had them (only) 7 years
Previous ovens seemed to last donkeys years !
thanks

oops, meant to type charging us £179!

Internet searching the model number will assist with identifying the fault (and whether it's commonplace), but you're not going to have any rights to enforce after 7 years.

What are you hoping to achieve if you get the info?
I would just be looking for a local recommended person to come out & fix it.

Gathering that information isn't going to help, even if it were possible. Just get it repaired. Seven years for an appliance of any sort is pretty good going, and it's probably something straightforward that a local independent repair person can fix.

Sadly 'white goods' seemingly being passed down from generation to generation, a slight exaggeration, is very much a thing of the past. Now, getting more than maybe 7 years out of an appliance is going well.

Who is charging the £179 for the repair? If that is AEG, what would a local service centre charge?
Is the repair quote for "fixed price repair" or is it just a quote to change the thermostat and if it needs something else it will end up costing more? Some manufacturers offer a "fixed price repair" where they will come out and fix the appliance irrespective of what the fault turns out to be and, in my opinion, that can be quite good value.

This is more than likely going to be one of the elements - either grill or fan element. They do breakdown with age and then create a fault to earth (which is what is 'tripping' your electrics).
£30ish part - really simple repair. Quite common with most ovens.
