Any person- UK national or not - resident or not - can drive on an EU licence in the UK until the age of 70.

The 12 month rule does not apply to EU licences.

The OP has not said how old they are or why the EU licence expired.

As far as I know, if your EU driving licence has expired, you generally can’t legally drive on it in the UK until it’s renewed. An expired licence is different from a valid foreign licence, so it’s worth checking with DVLA or the authority that issued it to see what your options are.
