Anti-slip shower trays - how hard to keep clean?
Asking here 'cos I don't know where else to ask! We're going to get our bathroom dragged into the 21st Century, and because I'm pushing 80 now we're wondering whether to go for an anti-slip shower tray. Specifically one with this finish ….
But it looks like that'd be a PITA to keep clean. Anybody actually got one like this and can tell us whether it is or not?

Why do you think it will be difficult to clean?

We have a low profile Mira anti-slip tray and think it is great.
It doesn't look as rough as the one you have highlighted, it's a flight safe one, and is quite straightforward to clean.

Have you considered a wooden duck board?
Non-slip, you can lift and clean underneath.

Your question would probably get more responses in the DIY forum. By coincidence on the last page of this thread, non slip shower trays/mats are being discussed. Normally it is not good form to jump on another thread but probably ok in this case.

Woo hoo! I have just now FINALLY managed to find exactly the shower tray we need. And it's only taken part of yesterday evening and all of this afternoon 🙄
But whatever, right size, drain in right place and anti-slip without that gravel path finish I was concerned about, so it's all good now.
Problem solved 👏

Are you going to tell us which one it is so other forums users may find it helpful?
Thanks.

I see you are sorted now but yes those rough types are difficult to clean and keep looking clean - my Mum had one, you can get much better. All flooring, shower trays have a anti-slip grade and you can request higher grade, Altro flooring has the highest score, it is the type found in hospitals.

Altro ( or similar) are also used in care homes, but you can have it in your own home as well.
It is quite expensive and harder to fit than normal vinyl flooring, but is also very hard wearing.

Not directly related to shower trays, when I was younger I spent quite a lot of time in and on small boats. Most were GRP (fibreglass) and many had diamond-pattern non-slip moulded into their decks.
This was effective (remaining non-slip when wet and tilted at a jaunty angle) and relatively easy to keep clean with a stiff brush and a bit of elbow grease.
