I have always received my State Pension and Pension Credit weekly. It is my understanding that weekly payments are in advance but 4 weekly payments are in arrears.

Not necessarily - a married couple I know receive SP weekly but the wife (SPA pre 6/4/10) is paid in advance while the husband (SPA post 6/4/10) is paid in arrears.
