Ticket on private land when I was asked to go there by the owner
Hi, I've read the newbies bit but got a bit confused about which part would apply, I would be grateful if someone could point me to the right part to read please or other advice welcome, thanks
Just wondering what my rights are here, I'm a gardener and someone messaged me a few months ago on a job website asking for a quote for some gardening work at a cinema complex, they sent me the address and I went there to look around and gather the quote details, I parked my van in the empty car park, as it was daytime and the cinema was closed, I spoke to the deputy manager whilst there to discuss the work to be done. I sent off the quote (didn't get the job though). I saw the parking signs but it didn't really cross my mind that I needed to pay to stay there as I was technically (in my mind) on business for this company. Now a few months later I have received a solicitors letter (letter before claim)
I have reached out to the company (the cinema) in question but they have said that as there was ample signage there they can't help me. It didn't occur to me that I would be expected to pay to park there whilst on business for them, obviously I will from now on, but is there a way to appeal this? Seems pretty unfair to me

It may be unfair, but you need to focus on the letters etc, a fightback
Name the private parking company claimant, Name the lawyers, Name the location too
Check if its a valid formal letter of claim,, giving you 30 days notice etc
Study the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad, especially read posts 5 & 2

Ignore it and no paying! Tis a scam industry.
It's not a fine but if you get a Claim Form, you will need to use our Template Defence.
Hop to post 4 of the NEWBIES thread (see my signature below, for how to navigate there) and then read post 2 about LBC stage. Easy stuff.
Name the private parking company
Name the lawyers
Name the location
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You write that you received a letter before claim but you don't mention any PCNs or reminders received beforehand. Is the address on your V5C (logbook) correct?
