TOMTOM 520T Help

I bought one of the new TomTom 520Ts about 2 months ago. When I got it everything was fine. I hooked up the RDS cable and it worked without any problems. As time's gone on the cable seems to be more and more unreliable. It's not that it doens't pick up the signal it does, it's just that for some reason everytime you switch the unit off and back on again it doesn't think the RDS cable is connected. You then have to unplug the RDS cable and re-plug it in. Even when you do this it still doesn't find it. You have to do this several times. It can take upto about 10 or 15 minutes to finally recognise the cable. Has anyone else had anything like this? Anybody any ideas as to what's causing it or how to fix it. As you can imagine it's driving me mad.
