    You can amend the interest amount for the past tax year though, there are 2 years to select - current and last. Not sure what effect that actually has on anything though.

    I suspect it is a variation on the "interest being deducted" phrase which really means "tax being deducted from interest". In this case I think it means "is the account still open so you are still receiving untaxed interest this year" as opposed to "have you put the untaxed interest somewhere where it is in turn earning interest"
