Having someone with you at a pips assessment

Under what circumstances is someone likely to have to go to an assessment for a claim to PIPs for anxiety and depression?
this person is virtually housebound because of this.
I presume someone could go into the examination room with that person?
how much would they be able to answer questions for them? If this person actually managed to get to the assessment, they would likely clam up and be virtually unable to speak.

I think you can request a home visit,or at least you used to be able to.

You can always take someone with you and I think people often do for moral support, or so if they claim things that weren't said, or didn't happen, you have a witness. I'm not sure if you're allowed to speak for the person.

After Covid hit all PIP assessments were via telephone, this has changed over the years.

A home visit can be requested but is not guaranteed, how much evidence do you have that the claimant is housebound due to anxiety? As this will help influence their decision.

As for having someone with you, regardless of if it’s an in person, telephone or home visit, you can have someone with you. You will need to acknowledge at the start of the assessment that you will be discussing your medical history and so you will need to give consent for the person to stay (I know it sounds backaward)

If you nominate that person to be able to support your answers with you, that that is also an option.

Last time I had a face to face (2019) I took my mum with me!

Reviews in 2022 and 2024 were entirely paper based. Next one due in 2028

I took someone with me when I had a face to face meeting for my ESA application. I had seen an article advising people to record it. Not sure if that’s allowed but apparently lots of people do it.😹

I didn’t need it in the end as I was awarded ESA until I reached retirement age which was about 3 years
