Outlook on my new laptop
Do I need Outlook on my new Windows 11 laptop?
It is sitting at the bottom of the screen and I have no idea why I would need it.
I have Virgin email and also Gmail, is that enough.
Make it simple as you can because I am old!

You can use whatever you like to access your emails - Outlook is simply one such app but if you prefer whatever else you're currently using then there's no requirement to use it.

Outlook is a program/app that is used to access your email accounts. You don't have to have an outlook email account (e.g. one ending in outlook.com) to use it.
You could add your virgin email account and your gmail account and handle both of them in one place.
Personally Outlook is my favourite email program so I'm a bit bias. Others exist, or you can do emails the old-school way by going to each mail providers website.

No, you don't 'need' Outlook

I have gmail email addresses, and use Thunderbird to access them!

I know it might sound silly, but how do I go about adding my virgin Mail and G Mail accounts to outlook?

No, you don’t need Outlook.
Think of Outlook like a posh tin for your Werther’s Originals. The sweets are your emails. Gmail and Virgin are where the sweets actually come from. Outlook is just one possible tin to keep them in.
If you already read your Gmail and Virgin email happily in a web browser, carry on doing that. You can remove Outlook from the taskbar if it annoys you. It is optional, not compulsory.
