Luton Airport Drop-Off Charge Passed to Debt Recovery Plus - No Previous Letters Received
Hi,
I’m wondering if anyone can help or advise.
It seems I may have forgotten to pay for the Luton Airport drop-off zone charge. I have now received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus stating that I have not responded to previous letters, but I have not received any previous letters at all.
This is the first correspondence I have received about the matter, and they are now asking me to pay £165.
I understand that I should have paid the original drop-off charge, and I accept that this was my mistake. I also understand that the parking charge would usually have been around £95, reduced to £55 if paid within 14 days. However, because I did not receive any earlier letters, I was never given the opportunity to pay the reduced amount or even the original charge before it was passed to debt recovery.
I am not trying to avoid responsibility, but I do not think it is fair that I am now being asked to pay an inflated amount of £165 when this is the first letter I have actually received.
Has anyone dealt with Debt Recovery Plus or Luton Airport drop-off charges before? Is there any way to challenge the added fees or ask for the charge to be reduced back to the original amount?
Any advice would be really appreciated, as I am not sure where I stand and I do not want this to escalate further.
Thank you

You don't want that. Nothing will happen. You'll never pay. Don't take the bait at all!

You do. There is no escalation. APCOA never sue anyone.
