EES & Returning to UK from European Airports

From what I've read, it seems to vary quite a bit between airports. Some people are through in no time, others seem to get stuck in queues. Hopefully it'll settle down once everyone gets used to the new system.

In my last few trips after the EES became fully active, I never encountered a long queue on my way out. In fact when I went out at Oslo Airport two days ago there was no queue at all.

However, getting in was a problem. Before EES, I could pass through the control as fast as 10 seconds, but now I have to queue for at least half an hour at nearly every port I get in, and at one occasion the staff inspected my dozens of stamps in my passport thoroughly for 10 minutes, cross checking the computer records, before letting me in

I was in Tenerife recently and there were zero problems on arrival and departure. Through both ways in less than a minute though I had previously registered with EES on a previous trip to Valencia which had been pretty chaotic.

Tenerife South departures is a lot better than it used to be now that they have improved facilities at the non-Schengen gates

The essence of these posts is about UK passport holders returning to the UK.

We travel through Glasgow or Edinburgh airports - neither has separate lanes for UK/EU passports - maybe different elsewhere ?

Time taken will depend on how many people arrive in the same time space.

Half a dozen will go through quicker than 6 dozen all arriving.

and some airports seem to be quietly switching off EES when things get too busy. Greece seems particularly adept at doing this, to the extent that they only start using it when it’s very quiet.
