PROBLEM WITH VIRGIN 0% BALANCE TRANSFER CARD

Hi,

I applied for a Virgin 0% balance transfer credit card with a 0% fee for the transfer itself. To be clear , I understand and have seen Virgin offer cards with various fees attached for the amount of the transfer ranging from 0% to 3%.

I applied through the MSE website and it clearly stated on two different pages the card I was entitled to would be 0% fees.

Then it transfers you to the Virgin website where most of the information is pre-filled. I hit apply, was accepted and upon receiving my card I applied for the transfer. It then said there would be a 3% charge for this transfer.

I contacted Virgin credit card via their online chat, explained the problem to which they said there is likely a problem with the MSE website. I then tried as an experiment an application with my father. He was offered the same 0% fee and 0% for 12 months. When taken to the Virgin website it confirmed 0% fee and at no point was there a mention of changing it to 3%. I have screenshots of the pages. I therefore don’t believe MSE website is “broken” but possibly Virgin’s is?

Any advice on how to resolve this would be appreciated. Many thanks.

When I applied (directly not via any link) it gave me various options, not just the 0% no fee one. Could it be you simply picked the wrong card at this stage?

Not sure 'experimenting' with someone else's details is a wise thing to do.

"Then it transfers you to the Virgin website where most of the information is pre-filled."

What did it say at that point about fees? It's not unheard of for any "representative" offer to be tailored to an individual application, based upon your particular credit data. It could be that you ended up being eligible for a different card to the one advertised, but all the T&Cs should have been visible before you decided whether or not to go ahead with the application.

With the best will in the world, aggregator sites cannot give an accurate prediction of what you'll be accepted for. Firstly, they only perform a soft search. Secondly, they are not privy to each lender's unique lending criteria.

It could be a simple issue that you did not meet the criteria fir the 0% offer.

    T/C when agreeing to offer.

    Is this the one?

    Balance transfer details

    0% period

    12mths

    Fee

    None

    Rep APR after

    24.9%

It's only the 12mth deal that says no fee, did you select a different term or something? You're right on several MSE pages it says 0% fee for the 12mth balance transfer card. The money transfer card has a 4% fee.

Not sure what to suggest if Virgin say they are right that's it I guess as it's their card.

    Sense is not common.
