Homeserve & Emergency cover.
Most house insurance offer emergency cover for burst pipes etc as extra for little cost, but it is basis cover.
Homeserve offer can be better and the max limits per claim are greater.
If I was to take out Homeserve cover, would I need to cancel the emergency cover on my house insurance, as there would be a overlap in cover. For example, if I had a burst pipe, both homeserve and the emergency cover on the house insurance would cover the burst pipe.
Thoughts please.

Personally, I would cancel the emergency cover on your home insurance, after you've compared the cover to make sure it covers what you need it to.

Maybe 10 years ago I bought Homeserve cover through an offer with my water company, 50p a month.
Within 3 months I had a major sewage pipe issue under my kitchen and garage floor. Homeserve dug it all up (10m+) and replaced the pipe and filled the hole, then house insurance covered the new flooring and repairs to the kitchen.
Bargain in this case as I'd only paid £1.50 and it must have cost them thousands.
