Speeding Ticket Help!

Hi,

I received speeding ticket by post saying you exceed 40mph speed but I never speed speed limit. I always drive within speed limit. I have doubt on camera efficacy.

Any suggestion for appeal grounds?

    What evidence do you have?

What exactly have you received? The photo is cropped but looks like a notice of intended prosecution so you have already been named as the driver?

Basically you will need to go to court to contest and in all likelihood will be found guilty with a larger fine than if you just take the hit now.

What you must do is reply and name the driver, if you don’t you will get a fine and 6 points for failure to notify. The only way to appeal is to refuse the fixed penalty or speed awareness course and go to court but this will almost certainly fail and leave you with a substantially higher fine than £100 or the cost of a course.

Ok., first you must check to see if the speeding ticket is legitimate - check to see if the contact details are correct and then get in touch to verify.

If it is then your only escape would be if you were not the driver at the time, if you were not then you must tell them who it was.

You must be truthful here, as if you lie then this is taken extremely seriously and can result in jail.

Advice, if it was you take the points and or speed awareness course.

This place usually deals with private parking companies, i would suggest you also ask here:

You have no chance of contesting it. They're calibrated precisely and will have evidence for it.

You would need a dashcam with live GPS speed.

And even then, the calibration of your low tech equipment would be trumped by their cameras costing 100 times more.

Everybody speeds at one time or another.

Agree. For most drivers accepting 3 points (or SAC) is far cheaper than mounting a challenge.

Since the o/p never speeds, this is a first 3 points so will likely not even impact the insurance renewal. That is not the case for 6+ points when it does....

I don’t think it is possible to claim with absolute certainty that you never exceed the speed limit, as continually looking at the speedometer is not practicable. Even where the car has cameras that recognise speed signs and adjust your speed accordingly is not nailed on to prevent you speeding, badly placed signs will fool the system and the car won’t slow in advance of temp signs so you could be speeding for wuite a distance after you have passed one.
