Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for starting us off.
We had some rain yesterday - most of it light but with a couple of short, sharp showers; today should be dry with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, albeit a bit on the chilly side. We'll be lucky if we manage to reach 10 or 11 deg! And it doesn't look as if the coming week will be getting any warmer; the forecast is for an Arctic blast. 😕 All a far cry from last year's lovely spring with summer clothes destined to remain in the wardrobe for a while yet.
There's always squirrels around here and it's not unusual to see them perched outside on the window ledge looking in. I used to put up bird feeders on the hanging basket hooks during the winter but stopped when I realised most of the contents were being eaten by squirrels and magpies and not the little birds they were intended for. Luckily I've never seen any rats but that doesn't mean there aren't any!
I'll be having the usual Slothful Sunday once I've prepped the veg for tonight's dinner. It was going to be a pork & apple casserole but, alas, I must have used the pork steaks from the freezer so it's the last tub of corned beef hash instead. The mini quiches I made yesterday have turned out well as has the plum compote, the carrot & lentil soup will provide some weekday lunches and I used the bits of leftover pastry for a few jam tarts.
@NRA - Nice to 'see' you again, I'm so sorry to hear about your DD's cat.
@TA - Have a pleasant 'van trip, I think you may need some warm clothing though!
@Ruby - Good job you noticed the black spots of mould early on, it's a beggar to shift once it takes hold.
@dp1 - It's hard emptying your parents' house but you are making progress towards the sale. I'd like to think your mam will be more settled when you go to the care home today but, if not, have an extra hug.
Have a peaceful and restful Sunday, take care all. X

Late one from me! It's nice here but cool. We've spent most of the afternoon at a local dog show at an old hall nearby. It was organised by our dog food supplier. We stopped by his stall to say hello and bought some treats for Ldog. We didn't enter him in any of the classes but he was a very good boy & we talked to a lot of other owners and admired their dogs, and came home through the woods the long way round. I think he's tired out now.
I put a beef joint in the sc early on for a roast dinner, just have the roasties to do now.
We have squirrels around in the back, not quite as much since Ldog arrived. I might have to stop feeding the birds as I saw a rat the other day under the bird table. I read that garlic was a deterrent so put some in the stone wall away from doggo's reach and hadn't seen it for a while until yesterday. I know next doors dog caught one a couple of weeks ago 😶
I haven't done any pud for the menfolk, they'll have to manage with ice cream 😉
Sorry about DDs cat NRA, always so hard losing a pet.
Take care all, going to watch footie on tv now.
