Amazon Warehouse /Resale and guarantees

I've just bought a Samsung microwave from Amazon Resale. I know I have my distance selling rights and an Amazon guarantee but do I still have the 2 year Samsung guarantee?

I see no mention on the Amazon site.

MSE wrote an article about Amazon Resale recently that fails to discuss this - which is a bit of a glaring omission. Hopefully MSE will update the article.

Personally I wouldn't worry. Manufacturer warranties don't offer much more than your statutory rights and if they do, they sometimes come with caveats such as paying for parts only, leaving you to pick up labour costs.

If you don't know what the terms of the gurantee are, how do you expect anybody here to know what you don't know?

Don't know the answer but maybe try registering the MW on the Samsung site. For my Samsung items it shows the guarantee period.

That's a really silly reply. This is what the forum is for: ASKING QUESTIONS. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Samsung offer two years parts & labour so it's better than a poke-in-the-eye. But I've now found Amazon's page (which I had to go to Reddit to find… ) I 'll post it separately from this reply for anyone who needs it.

Apparently, (according to Reddit at least) MOST product manufacturers won't honour guarantees for products bought on Amazon Resale - partly because Amazon no longer identify returns as 'unboxed'. They sell them as 'used' which is a bit iffy to say the least.

Amazon offer their own guarantee but it's a bit unclear. Surprise, surprise…

I'm not sure, in these days of flimsy products, if Amazon Resale is necessarily worth it for anything other than small or uncomplicated things.

If something is being sold in ‘resale’ then that means it has already been sold previously.

You didn't need to go to Reddit to find Amazon's page.

I just typed 'Amazon Resale' into Amazon.co.uk's home page to find the above link, labelled there as 'Learn more about Amazon Resale'.

The section in there: 'What about my warranty rights?' seems to me to explain the various warranty rights very clearly as well as the detail of how to find them from your Amazon invoice.

The only item which you might find confusing is reference to your 'statutory legal warranty'. In the UK this refers to your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Within the EU, their equivalent legislation which is also made under Directive 2011/83/EU is usually called 'the statutory legal warranty'

In reality, whether you can register a warranty is down to if the person who returned the item had already done that.

How would a manufacture know that the item has been returned & then resold?

Unless Amazon advise them with the serial No.🤷‍♀️
