Currys creation Finance

I currently have an £11k limit and used £800 on my currys flex pay/ creation account. Tried to make a £210 purchase today and was rejected.

Tried calling creation who advised there aren’t able to advise for a minimum of 24 hours why I was rejected. My concern now though is I’ll have a credit rejection on my file even though I’m far within my £11k limit terms with them.

Has anyone else had an issue like this with currrys/creation?

Haven't had this problem but I'm going to venture a guess that it's due to a system glitch.

I suspect this would be no different than if you tried to pay with your credit card and got a decline because Barclaycard (or whomever) had a system failure. I'm fairly certain that wouldn't show up on your credit history. (happy to be corrected)

Have you had a look at your last Creation statement?? There may be some clue on there perhaps?

Frankly I think Creation is a complete mess and would never recommend them for anything except that I was able to get a £20k kitchen on 0% for 4 years. Every time I want to check my account I have to contact them to get them to email me a statement. I think it's ludicrous that you have such a small window (60 days) to view a statement. And half the time when I try to check within a week of the statement being produced it's not available. (sorry for the rant!)

I’m hoping that it won’t show and if it does I’ll be taking it further. I have a perfect credit file and definitely don’t want them messing it up especially before I come to remortgage in a few months time.

I agree with you they’re not the best but in emergencies like ours (washing machine broke) it comes in handy.

It will not show as a rejection on your credit file, it is no different to a transaction being declined by a credit card provider, entirely internal.

With regard to using it for "emergencies", it might be worth looking at building an emergency fund.

  • Had 2 cars financed with BNP / Creation, the first one they caused no end of issues due to them messing up the input of new bank details.

Tried to put me down for a late payment marker which came to light when I was refused 0% in curry's for a new tv.

Credit rejections are not reported to CRA's.
