Serious Kia Engine Failure, Months Waiting for Parts & Poor Customer Support , Has Anyone Else Exper

We purchased the Kia Niro Hybrid in 2024 from an authorised Kia dealer with 38,000 miles on it. The car is a 2016 model and was sold with a 3 year warranty
The vehicle has a full service history from Kia dealerships since new, and we are the third owners of the car.
The engine problem occurred when the car had done just over 59,000 miles.
Now, the dealer has informed me that they will repair the engine, but they will not provide any additional warranty on the repaired engine. We only have 8 months remaining on the existing Kia Assured Warranty. They also stated that if the engine develops any issues after those 8 months, we will have to cover the engine repair costs ourselves.
Thank you!

I completely agree. It feels like they are only interested in selling the car and do not genuinely care about customers once the sale is completed.
Over time, brand loyalty will continue to decline as more and more people become aware of their poor customer service and lack of proper after-sales support.
Thank you!

Kia assured only gives you the balance of the 7 year warranty.
All Kia Assured Cars come with the balance of our 7-Year Warranty subject to a full Kia Dealer service history with additional top up to 12 months where applicable – which often results in a greater warranty period than some competitors provide for their new cars!
So a 2016 car. Kia warranty would have run out in 2023/4, before your purchased the car. So it must be a 3rd party warranty.
So this is down to the 3rd party warranty. Given this is a 10 year old car, 8 months is a good period.

I'm pretty sure they are correct regarding any issues after those 8 months. You don't get to keep resetting

I think most manufacturers will only cover warranty that is outstanding, I had a ford puma that developed a strange noise from the engine, long story short, the ford dealer fitted a brand new engine as it was the quickest option, the warranty ( the car was bought new) only had a matter of weeks left and they would only cover the engine for this period, shame really as I liked the car and if they’d extended the warranty by six months I’d have bought another, instead I bought a new Toyota Yaris cross and I’m so glad I did..

If it's approved used from Kia, I would expect it to be a Kia extended warranty.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Are Kia and Hyundai the Same Company?
No. Although they are related, they are not the same company. Some years ago, Kia had filed for bankruptcy, Hyundai purchased some of the company to keep it on its feet. They bounced back, and now, even have some stake in Hyundai’s Group subsidiaries. Although closely related, the two companies are independently operated and manufacture some of the top cars on the roads today. It’s no secret that both companies care about each other, even though they are rivals.

Approved & Assured are two totally different version of 2nd hand Kia's
Less that 20,000 mile & less than 20 months old. 🤷♀️So that does not cover your purchase.
Kia will not offer a official 3 year warranty on a a 8 year old car, when purchased. When it is already out of the official Kia 7 year warranty.

Agree, we can file this one under "Bought a car, assumed it would be better than it is because it was from a main dealer".
