Hyder Business Services/Mouchel
I worked for an engineering company called TBMA uk Ltd back in the late 90s for four years and they set up a pension with Canada life. I want to access this pension, I contacted Canada life and back in 2008 they transferred £2500 to Hyder Business Services in Lincoln - known as HBS) HBS were taken over by Mouchel who was later taken over by Kier group obviously I can’t call HBS or Mouchel. I’ve tried to call Kier and they’ve got no records of a pension. They told me to ring Aviva and another was XPS, none have my pension.
There is no information on the pension tracing service for HBS is actually for their for pension they administered Canada life also told me to I’ve emailed them and I’m unable to ring them - email only. TBMA is on pension tracing service but lists no pension administrator. I’m totally at a loss where to go now.

This is on the Pension Tracing Service website, so I'd be tempted to go back to XPS and have another go.
If you were in a final salary scheme (which sounds likely, given this was the 1990s), there's a very good chance that it was contracted out of the State Additional Pension. Have a look at the second post in this thread:
and put in a request for your NI history for the years from (say) 1994 to 2001, to make absolutely sure you cover the period during which you were a member. You'll need to read the whole of the thread to see why that might be helpful.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
Thank you. I think now it was contracted out. If this is the case, what would have happened to it?

Nothing - at least not just because it was contracted out.
I think what @Marcon was saying was that if you got your detailed NI record (as per that 2021 thread) then it would (might?) show up the schemes through which you contracted out. That might give you some other avenues for contacting someone.
However he also gave you some details of a scheme administered by XPS which might be the one you were in and suggested you try XPS again. Have you?

It will have been revaluing (increasing in value) in line with the rules of the scheme/statutory requirements from the time you stopped being an 'active' member. You're now a 'deferred' member - someone who is prospectively entitled to a pension from this scheme at a future date.
If you put in a request for a SAR as I've suggested, and the scheme was contracted out, that will give confirmation of your membership - which should make it trickier for all parties to wriggle off the hook (someone has it!) and thus increase the chances of uniting you and your pension.
Is there any chance you've transferred it out to another pension arrangement? I've lost count of the number of scheme members I've encountered who swear blind that of course they haven't or they'd have remembered (only to be genuinely amazed and chastened when the written confirmation of the transfer is produce), but this was many years ago and memories fade.
The long stop position is the much overdue Pensions Dashboard, which in theory is going to enable users to pop in their NI number and see all their pensions instantly. We're still some way off getting to that point, but it's another avenue if you've not hit the jackpot before then.
I can feel the waves of frustration coming over from your post, but if you can, try not to let it get under your skin. I know that's easier said than done, but if you've waited a quarter of a century to try and track it down… It'll be safely somewhere.

I’ll ring them Monday, thank you

Why not wait for the outcome of your SAR and then contact them with hard evidence of your membership?
