"thick" emulsion

Just took a wide light fitting down with a much narrower one going up. I've been left with marks and holes. I have filled and sanded but of corse this area now stands out a little as its a different texture to the rest of the ceiling.

Is there a thicker covering emulsion out there I can use on the whole ceiling to give a consistent look all over? Don't want an artex looking ceiling afterwards though, just a plain smooth look?

Anything trade will be thick. I used to use the dulux trade supermat a while ago for that. Compared to retail emulsions it's more like custard than milk if you get me. You've got to be more careful of brush or roller marks with thicker paint though so make sure to give it a good look over before finising!

Ideally, you want to get the filled area to blend into the original area before painting. If it stands out before painting, it'll be the same after.

Use something like toupret powder filler and try and feather the area into the original ceiling to minimise any lines. You can give it a rub down once dry if needed to blend everything. Paint doesn't flash through toupret filler like it can with some others.

Also, give the filled area a mist coat before the two final coats (You can use the same paint diluted with around 30% water for a mist coat).
