As my TV arial wasn’t being used (we get our TV via the internet) we had it removed by roofers when they were doing some repair work after a storm. One less thing to worry about!

You don't need any special equipment to clean solar panels. Warm, soapy water and a soft cloth / brush will do the job (don't use anything too abrasive as you don't want to scratch the panels). It's true they're meant to self clean from rain but bird poo and sometimes algae can build up on them over the years and not get washed off. If you can get onto the roof easily and safely it's well worth cleaning them every year - any dirt seriously reduces the amount of energy they generate. I cleaned my Granny's solar hot water panels and the increase in the temperature of the water they produced afterwards was significant.
