Yes. Make sure you wait until the switch has completed before paying in your £1,250 and leave it there 24 hours+.

Hi if I have two different Nationwide accounts (FlexAccount and FlexDirect) and opened the rewards current account for both on 27th May for both Natwest and RBS, will that work for both? Or is that too late? I've only just opened another Nationwide so need to wait for the debit card for that to arrive which they say will be 7 to 10 working days!

I don't know how long the delay is after opening up the rewards current account until I can request the switch? Or is it immediately after that same day?

(I don't really want to start the process until the debit card arrives…)

And the reason I'm waiting is I assume we need to put the direct debit card number into the system for RBS/Natwest? (Because my account number and sort code for both Nationwide accounts should have already appeared in the system for Nationwide in the next couple of days if not sooner)

    Thanks!

You need to open and start your switch to your new NatWest/RBS account from 6th May (it doesn't mention an end date).

The terms just say that your switch needs to complete from 6th May.

You can request the switch as soon as the account is opened.

Thanks very much for confirming the above Danny! Any chance you might know if I need to wait for my debit card to arrive for Nationwide? (e.g. if I need the actual debit card number during the switch process or if it's sufficient to just have my account number and sort code)

As far as I know, it isn't a requirement to give a debit card number to do a switch, it should be optional. Once you have your sort code and account number that should be fine.

Why not open the account and apply to start the switch and see if it lets you proceed by not putting in a debit card number?

For anyone interested how long it takes to get the bonus. Switch completed Monday 18/05. Transferred required amount Tuesday 19/05 and withdrawn Thursday 21/05. Bonus paid today - Wednesday 27/05.

Switch completed today (RBS), so to qualify for the bonus I have to log into the app (done) and deposit £1250. It has to be left in the account for 24 hours. I've got a regular saver maturing on Saturday so was just going to stick the money in RBS and withdraw it on Monday. But I remembered that RBS will date the payment as the next working day, i.e. Monday, so I might have to leave it in until Tuesday to qualify for the £200. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just mentioning this in case anyone else didn't realise about the weekend deposit thing.

Anyone tried for bonus that have had a previous payment? Just wondering how good their systems are as I managed to get bonus from all 3 banks a few years ago.

    Cheers!!!

I've tried in the past and found that whilst they might be bad at detecting switches across the brands, they did manage to detect switches within each individual bank (eg. NatWest knew I had previously had a NatWest switch).
