PIP Renewal due - No contact from DWP

I've previously had a thread with similar questions I've asked but it was 12 months or so ago, so I've decided to check again for changes etc.

I moved from DLA to PIP in June 2016, I got standard daily living and low rate mobility. I checked my award letter today and it clearly states my awards are "ongoing" and I will be contacted after 08 June 2026.

I realise it is a month before the date they stated but I would have expected to have heard from them by now, based on previous DLA awards.

Do I need to contact DWP if no review pack arrives? What I am most worried about is they just stop my payments. Which would then impact my UC eligibility for being unable to work and my partners CA.

If someone could clarify for me I would be grateful. Also am I correct that I will get a light touch review? Exactly what to do there is a whole different ball game!!

The DWP's own guidance states they will contact you after the date mentioned (in your case, June 8, 2026) or shortly before it to initiate the "light touch" process.

​In 2026, the DWP has been extending review cycles to reduce the backlog. It is very common for people to not receive their AR2 form until they are within just a few weeks of that "contact after" date.

You could have or get a light-touch review. I wouldn't worry if your payment continues.

As above… it may be a few months yet before they contact regarding reassessment.

Often you will get a text saying that your award has been extended.

Mrs was a year late before she got the review form in post

As it is an ongoing award I would not worry too much.

I would go as far as don't worry full stop.
If nothing changes the light touch is just a tick box form.

hello - my pip says ‘will contact you after 5th February 2026 (ongoing award) and I have not heard anything yet. No forms sent to me and no contact - I have also become a pensioner during this award.

I have no idea what is happening and would rather not contact them as ‘can of worms’ comes to Mind - just live in hope that money wont stop.

Thanks very much for your advice, i will just tight and wait for them to contact me.

The only thing I was really concerned about was suddenly finding I hadn't been paid after June.

Does anyone know what the chances of a rubber stamped award being given as its a light touch review. I'm 60 this year and although my conditions are worse than 10 years ago, I would be happy with ticking the the things haven't really changed box. If that gets an easier ride? I'm not greedy, I appreciate what help I get from the benefits I receive and we manage well enough.

What I worry about is being forced through a new assessment process, with all the grief that can come with it. Under DLA I was refused at every turn and ended up going to 2 tribunals which I won but they made me so ill. All the lies and tricks the DWP tried to use, they even sent representatives to the tribunals and they sat and told bare faced lies about me. It was horrendous and I felt degraded by the whole thing.

My situation has changed snd my health is worse but I would rather tick the box, keep my PIP as it is and not end up going through all that again.

With the award part with all you will have to do is tick the boxes that nothing has change.

I can understand even if entitled to a higher award that a person might find it easier just to keep existing award.

just to say i went online to get a proof of benefits letter (how many hoops to jump through to get an account even though i have a gov.uk account - though do understand security) and all it says now is “ongoing award” with no mention about contacting me after February 2026 which was in my original award letter. That has made me less concerned as it is now whenever they fit me in. So @Sam2022 yours might be the same.
