Worcester Bosch Repair issues

The background to this was originally in the Home/DIY section but I think this is now become a consumer rights issue and I could do with some advice.

Last week I had a Worcester Bosch engineer out to perform a fixed price repair on my old boiler. Real value for money as he replaced a lot of main parts and gave it a full service he then advised that if I needed any further work done in the future I needed to get a full system flush and filter added to the system, which was fair enough. Something for another day. He also advised that I may get a few drips of water later that day when the boiler was back on but that would be just residual water from the repair making it's way out of the case. Again, all well and good. Since then I've had a continuous slow drip coming from under the boiler and I identified this as a slight weep at the connection between the new plate heat exchanger that was fitted and the hydraulic block it connects to.

I contacted WB this morning expecting them to send the engineer back out to rectify, possibly only needs something tightening, only to be told that there is a "block" on my system and they can't do any further work or send an engineer out until I've had the aforementioned system flush and filter. I've tried explaining that I'm not asking for any "new" work done I just want the to rectify the issue arising from the original repair but they're having none of it stating their T&Cs etc. I even mentioned the Consumer Rights Act trumps their T&Cs but to no avail. Any ideas?

1 If you already have a live thread elsewhere you should have asked the forum team to move it to the appropriate board rather than just start a new thread here. Nobody here knows the background to the problem or what others have already advised you. It wastes everybody's time because nobody knows what you've already been told.

2 Without knowing the background to this thread, is the clue in what the engineer said to you: "…he then advised that if I needed any further work done in the future I needed to get a full system flush and filter added to the system…" [my bold for emphasis].

Sounds like they won't touch it unless you get a full system flush and filter fitted.

Whether that's reasonable or not nobody here knows as you haven't explained what service contract or warranty etc you have with them. (I suppose it might be in your other thread but I'm not going to waste my time searching for it…)

I gave the background above, all the relevant information is there, the other thread was simply asking about boiler repairs in general and isn't relevant to the issue here as this is purely about a potential consumer rights issue.

It's resolved now anyway as they've been in touch and agreed to come out a fix the issue as it's directly linked to the service carried out on the previous visit.

That's good to hear. Hope everything is sorted out when they come back.
