Lock for hollow core door

Oh dear! Thankfully that's not happened to us (or those around us!) for some time.

Is there a make on the handle?

Cheers, I did consider this sort of thing, but I figured fitting it to the hollow core door might be tricky with a knob already there

That is a 'beehive' style, and Google even reckons it's a Delamain Reeded knob.
I tried to find a similar style with a key lock in t'middle, but failed - only privacy types, and your kids will soon open these!
So S62's solution seems the best. They are not unattractive, and fitting in a hollow door should be ok - there should be a solid infill running down the door edge, tho' it might be limited in how far down it goes.
See if there's a door brand on the top edge of the door?

That's exactly how I used them - fitted just below the existing doorknob which helps make them look less intrusive. So long as the bolt barrel has something solid to be screwed into (which almost all hollow doors have) it doesn't matter that the door itself is hollow.

I purchased and fitted those so yeah, I'll know the make if I look in my emails for sure.

Okay. I guess I thought only where the existing knob is would be strong enough, seems I'm wrong!
I am wondering if there's any more temporary options until this ceases to be a issue (optimistic I know!), I tried to push a kettle bell behind the door last night but my wife needed to use it this morning lol.

Grumpy has the answer - We had them on all the downstairs doors in our house for some reason (previous owners must have fitted them). They are easyish to install (and uninstall) and the keys are pretty generic.
