Morning all, it's a bit dull but looking a bit brighter now. Thanks Gers, - I still have an old recipe book that belonged to my great grandmother, passed on to my DGran who added to it, and then started another. Lots of cake recipes!
Not much happening here apart from dogwalks and football. I've taken some salt and pepper chicken breasts out of the freezer, part of the butchers pack from the other week & just put in an order from Morries as they've sent me a free delivery offer for 1 month.
Hope you all have a good BH, or Monday if in Scotland.

@TravellingAbuela - do you treasure the stuff handed down from you grandmother or treasure the memory of her? I've been asking myself that question a lot as I feel I really can't treasure what my DM did. She treasured everything! Think I've dealt with her goods and come to terms with my 'guilt' about giving away or selling some of it. Now it's MY 'treasures' which occupy my mind and time. 😀
There's a small white washing load out on the line, there's a surprisingly nippy wind blowing despite the sunshine.

GERS after my earlier post I have been giving the crockery etc a lot of consideration and it's dawned on me that most of it was actually my Grandma's! Apart from my DM's wedding tea set, which my DD took for when she does occasional afternoon teas for her friends, there are just some plates and ginger jars my mum bought over time from the "seconds" pottery stall on Skipton market to put on her delph rack. She must have treasured my DGM's stuff so much she didn't accumulate much of her own! My Grandma was born in 1893 and I am now wondering if some of it was actually her own mother's too or why would she have had so many tea sets etc?! This thought is making it even harder to think about what to do with it - so in all the boxes it stays!

Morning all, thanks @Gers for the start and Happy May Day Bank Holiday to all.
Yesterday was a complete wash-out of a day with on/off showers, not cold but not warm either. Today is looking slightly better but with light showers possible in the early evening. I hope the weather hasn't scuppered anyone's plans for the break. As mentioned by others, Bank Holidays are less appealing when you're retired because they seem just like any other day; besides, I much prefer to avoid the inevitable traffic congestion, crowds of people, exorbitant entry prices etc in favour of taking trips out when I feel like it. 😄
DS eventually arrived home after a stressful journey, unfortunately made longer than normally would be the case because of planned engineering works on the railways, train cancellations etc. I've always advocated not giving up one job before having another one to go to but I think even I would have been ignoring my own advice in this instance. 🤨 Back to the drawing board tomorrow.
Nothing in particular planned for today apart from the usual daily tasks, plus slicing and freezing yesterday's gammon joint. @remmie - Snap, we're having chicken drumsticks in BBQ sauce for tonight's meal.
Have a good day all, take care. Hugs where needed or wanted. X

Hi everyone,
It's sunny here in West Wales, Steve and Laura have taken the children to White sands beach. I'm sorting the kitchen and packing things up. Brian is diying. We're going back to Bristol tonight.
Gers I fully agree with not keeping everything passed on. Steve's sister had a clear out a few years ago but kept foisting stuff on the rest of the family. I just accepted and then moved it on to the CS, she'll never know. We kept a few things for the Yorkshire house so now we'll have to find homes for them when it sells.
WL are you back to playing now or still dancing.
Hugs to those in need
Have a good day.

@snoozer: We had lots of people out today so I only managed to get into one dance. I played for the rest of the day but I had taken a precautionary Ibuprofen before leaving home
