    Giving values per 100g and per serving size is standard so that you can compare different products.

    As you suggest, knowing whether it's rehydrated (prepared) vs dry in the figures is important especially if it's something like pasta in a big bag where you create the serving size yourself. It should be stated clearly whether the figures are for dry or prepared, but if it's not for pasta you can work it out. Dry pasta tends to have about 350 kcal per 100g, it will be nearer 200 if it's cooked.
