" Lovely new road - am I sceptical in thinking it’s because of impending voting opportunities that all the potholes are being fixed…. "
Doubt it - my car tooting friend, who is born and bred here, told me that the resurfacing is the first time in 42 years! We're on an unclassified road off B road which has been overlooked for too long.

Afternoon all, thanks for the start off Scarlet - I hope the pain killers work their magic on your back.
Well, yesterday's weather turned out to be very disappointing in the end; true, we didn't get any rain but the sun disappeared much earlier than expected with the rest of the day being pretty gloomy and none too warm. This morning it's bright and breezy but once again rain could be on the cards for later in the day. Typical of a Bank Holiday! 🙄
I had to cut short my sitting out in the sun because it wasn't really comfortable anymore so instead came inside and did some browsing for pre-planted hanging baskets. The ones I found were on an offer price that doesn't work out any more expensive than doing my own, so I've taken the plunge and ordered two. They won't be delivered for another 2-3 weeks but that's fine since the risk of overnight frost should have finished by then. I've had other good plug plants in the past from this company so I hope the baskets will be the same quality and packed well. 🤞
Today I have a pair of DS's trousers to repair (a patch on one of the legs where there's a small hole) while I wait for a small gammon joint to cook. There's also a quick wash doing that should dry outside fairly quickly, then I'll get back to my book and/or cross stitch. I haven't decided yet what's for tea, it all depends on when DS gets back home from Scotland.
You'll perhaps remember I had reservations about his new job? Well, I was right to have them. He's now stranded in Scotland because the company cancelled the jobs he was due to do up there, meaning there's no car to drive back to Leeds and expects him to make his own way back - at his own expense. I think that when he tots up what it's cost him so far, he'll not have much wage to come - that's if they pay him at all. Needless to say, he's told them in no uncertain terms to stick the job and will be back on the job hunt after the weekend. 😓
Anyway, that's enough of my problems and I hope everyone has a good weekend, whatever you may have planned. Take care, hugs for those down in the dumps, the poorly ones and those caring for others. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
