Personally I’d want a documentary answer, not a practical-history answer. Either the lease/title grants the space clearly, or it doesn’t. Paying maintenance on a space and having used it for years is helpful background, but it isn’t the same as a clean legal right.
I’d be pushing for your solicitor to state plainly whether the parking space is actually demised or expressly granted to this flat. If they can’t give you a clear yes, I’d treat the flat as not having allocated parking and decide on that basis.
