Dishwasher handle installation
The new kitchen is almost installed, but I have a question about the built-in Neff dishwasher.
There’s a noticeable gap between the door and the front panel, which seems to be caused by the handle choice. What is the correct way to install this type of handle so that it sits properly without leaving a gap?
Also, during installation one of the brackets scratched the frame quite deeply, even though the appliance hasn’t been used yet. To be honest, this feels like a design flaw in what’s supposed to be a premium product.
The designer said he has sold many of these and that nobody has raised any issues, so I just want to check, is this the expected result, or is there a better way to install the handle?

Hey Joe, is the gap caused by the handle's screw head? If so, it can be gently countersunk into the back of the door to make it flush.
As for the scratch, I don't understand how this occurred. If it unavoidably happened through normal use, then summat is amiss. Could you clarify, please?

Yes there is a better way.
That is an edge pull handle. The kitchen fitter should rout or chisel a shallow rebate in the back of the dummy door so that the back of the handle lies flush.

The scratch is a very similar shape and position to the metal bracket to the right of it in the OP's photo - which would be directly above it when the door is fully closed.
From a different Neff model (for example) -
Presumably there's a warning somewhere not to open or close the door until the metal bracket has been checked for clearance and to gently bend it up away from the door if the clearance is insufficient. Once screwed to the worktop/cabinet it would be clear.
The question will be whether the scratch was done in the factory/transit, or by the installer.
