Processing time of Land Registry to aid New Build resale
I have just found out that the leasehold portion of my shared ownership home has not finished being registered in the land registry, but the freehold portion has (i think that’s how it works).
I attempted to expedite the process and they informed me that they had sent a request to my previous solicitors and are awaiting a reply, and then will finalise the registration, but that I cannot expedite a registration process that has already begun. from what I understand, expedition is to speed the process up, but if it isn’t allowed on a process that’s already begun does that mean it will already be as fast as an expedited process or will I be stuck waiting a much longer time? I provided them with a memorandum of sale to showcase that it was dependent on this registration.

Expedition, when approved, gets an application to the start line for processing generally within 10 days.
As processing of your application has already started the 'race' so to speak has already started so expedition would not change anything now.
If a request has been raised with the lodging solicitor how long the race will run depends on them responding as soon as possible. You are correct that it is already as far as an expedited process would have taken it and as soon as we get a full response the application can be processed across the finish line.
We have no power over the solicitor re how quickly they respond but you should have as their client and I would recommend that you contact them to escalate the process with them and to ask if they can confirm when they expect to be able to respond in full
