HSBC Visa credit card 2% cashback
HSBC emailed me today (1 May 2026) with an offer of 2% cashback when using my HSBC Visa credit card.
It appears to be invite‑only, so it’s worth checking your junk folder just in case, as well as the HSBC app for any banner notifications.
The eligibility criteria may vary between customers, so make sure to check the details on your own account, if applicable.
All purchases made on your HSBC Visa Credit Card will qualify, except for money spent on:
- Betting or lotteries
- Wire transfers, money orders, foreign currency or travellers' cheques
- Securities brokers/dealers
- Insurance sales
- Stored value card purchases or loading
- GCAS emergency services
- Manual or cash machine cash withdrawals

my email offers 4% cashback , but capped to £30, min spend £250 during the month to qualify.
I wont be taking them up on the offer as mine has a stoozing balance at 0% with 20 months to go yet.

Received the email today too. My offer is
Spend £250 minimum in May to qualify for 2% back on May spending up to £30, and automatically be signed up for June, potentially doubling your cashback earnings. Have to opt in by clicking the link in the email by 23:59 on 31 May 2026 to get cashback for May. If you don't, you can opt in by 23:59 on 30 June 2026, to get cashback for June only.

Yes, the qualifying criteria varies per customer when they offer these cashback deals, as I have seen previously. I have a high spend threshold of £1,000 to qualify to earn the 2% cashback.
I rarely use this credit card so I assume they want me to spend more on their card.

I recently applied for a new M&S Rewards Credit Card through TopCashback, mainly in order to get the £35 incentive. On 29 April I received a text from M&S asking me to call them to discuss my application in more detail, which I did.
I answered (as vaguely as possible) quite a few questions around what I wanted the card for, had I applied for any other credit cards recently etc, and at the end of the conversation was left with the impression they'd be contacting me with their decision in the very near future. I've heard nothing more from M&S but did get the email from HSBC. Also, HSBC increased the limit on my card by £1,000 yesterday.
Wondering if it's all just coincidence or anything to do with the forthcoming transfer of all M&S's banking business to HSBC. Or have HSBC made this offer to me because M&S are about to decline my application for the new card?

Possibly just a coincidence. Hopefully you’ll get a response from M&S one way or another after the bank holiday.

Email confirming approval of application received today

No credit limit increase for my credit card but HSBC sent me an email over the bank holiday weekend with a 0% balance transfer offer over 15 months (3.49% fee on amount transferred).
