NPM - No Valid EPermit PCN

Wife and the driver were travelling and we had to pull over somewhere as she was not feeling to well. She is pregnant and has been travelling for 4 hours. The driver and his wife are not from the area.

Received a Parking charge, stating no valid e permit.

Looking at the charge, the driver had pulled into a parking area with e permit restrictions.

This was in the dark evening in April, at 21:00:18 till 21:05:30.

Signage was not clear and obvious. nor that we paid any attention as Pregnancy issues, feeling pain in the abdomen we had to stop immediately. At the health Centre

Appealed, and they adamant that they want to see medical proof of the pregnancy pains. and that it does not fall under 10min grace.

They have had their final say and want the driver to proceed to IAS.

Driver has proceed to request assistance from yourselves.

How should driver proceed.

I'd go to the IAS and simply argue pregnancy is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010:

The Equality Act 2010 protects women from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation regarding pregnancy, maternity leave, and pregnancy-related illness in the workplace, education, and services. It is unlawful to treat a woman unfavourably because of her pregnancy

• Protected Characteristic: Pregnancy and maternity is a protected characteristic, meaning you cannot be treated unfairly, dismissed, or disadvantaged because you are pregnant, have a pregnancy-related illness, or are on maternity leave.

(1)This section has effect for the purposes of the application to the protected characteristic of pregnancy and maternity of—

(a)Part 3 (services and public functions);

(b)Part 4 (premises);

(2)A person (A) discriminates against a woman if A treats her unfavourably because of a pregnancy of hers.

For proof anything from your pile of NHS letters would do. By proof I mean of pregnancy - the pains are irrelevant in terms of the act because every pregnancy itself comes with a whole host of issues.

At the end of the day you were there for 5 feckin minutes. They're vultures.
