PCN prompt payment discount

Martin should take this up. Car park operator says £100 charge is reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. But if you appeal the validity or go to POPLA then the discount isn’t available. What a con!

Yes - definitely a con! But you shouldn't pay it in any case. Always wait until they send you a court claim and respond to that and the case will be closed without you paying.

Except it's only an invoice. You wouldn't expect your plumber to offer a discount, or run an appeals system. So what's different here?

It's only a con if you look at it as a bonafide penalty.

Smart people never pay whether it's £100 or £60 anyway.

But this isn't new; all they've done is mimicked Local Authority Penalties, which operate like that too.

The discount is never on offer at second stage appeals - on street, off street, real ornalyies or private invouces like these - but so what really?! You aren't going to pay.

Read the MSE Guide linked at the top of the page. All stages are explained there. Nobody pays an unfair private parking invoice.

The NEWBIES Announcement thread on this board (which says PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST) also tells you to ignore the 14 day discount bribe. It's irrelevant.
