Complaint about HSBC UK Bank. Telephone banking service for overseas customers

Have been living full time in Spain since 2006. Have had an account with HSBC UK, Crawley Branch, for more than 25 years.

Am extremely unhappy about the amount of times I have had to write and telephone them, to ask for my money to be sent to my Spanish Bank account. On most occasions I had to spend almost an hour on hold, and ended up talking to someone in India. Each person telling something completely different.

Very frustrated!

Also still waiting for my funds to arrive.

Have you gone through their complaints process, and, if so, what was the outcome?

It sounds like you're unhappy at having to contact them to move money for you - is online access viable?

Perhaps you need to specify what the problem is in more detail. I have never found any reason to complain about HSBC"s telephone service.

Why do you need to phone them to transfer money? Why not self serve online or via the app?

I suspect they are blocking it for fraud reasons. OP probably do better using Wise or better yet, admit to HSBC they are no longer resident in the UK but then may, depending on the account, face the account being closed as UK banks don't tend to like people living abroad while maintaining a UK account

HSBC have confirmed to me both online and in branch that it is ok to keep accounts open as an EU resident.
