When I was googling "problems with Journal entries being ignored", I noticed a few people in a DWP subreddit post that they've posted a message to the journal and after giving it a period of time, have then phoned up the UC phoneline to ask the UC agent to alert the case manager to the entry on the journal. Most then seem to have had success with the entry being actioned. It's a convoluted way of getting an entry actioned but it seems to do the trick.

Average case load for a full time UC Case Manager is approx 2000 claims.

And the most challenging time in regards to tasks that they process is April/May when Housing rent and benefit changes occur.

I have heard from senior people in a number of Government departments, that Government is factoring in savings of over 20% in costs due to IT improvements automating administrative tasks. MOD are currently going through a voluntary redundancy process. If you regularly check Civil Service Jobs, they don't advertise anywhere near the number of vacancies that they did a few years ago.

The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Yes lad it's better to have an Agent forward an issue rather than talking to yourself of late, because of all the overpayment errors and where it's being paid errors not updating and a bank holiday. And with a scheduled shutdown something isn't running right.
