Renting a house to family while overseas

Not rented out, the registered address for council tax, electoral register, hmrc, work(if employee), GP surgery all point to it being your PPR. People who go on round the world trips/ 90 day cruises/ escape every winter to warmer climates/ go for months to visit ailing relatives overseas etc etc all have their PPR as their UK home. I don’t think this is evasion, it’s the factor that establish it as the truth.
A parallel consideration is, if you came back to the UK for a return visit and unfortunately needed emergency NHS treatment that then involved a stay in hospital, would you say to the NHS staff that you were a resident or non-resident? Non-residents should only claim free emergency care, after that it is billable by the NHS. Same as staying registered with a GP, as a non-resident you should ask to be removed from their list.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Its up to HMRC or court if it is PPR, so keep relevant records etc etc carefully.

Certainly not my intention, but who wants to give money from the sale of a home to the taxman if they can avoid it legally. If we have to return and live in it for a period before selling then so be it. I have never sold a main home before, nevermind while being overseas. I am just seeking advice from those who know more about this.
