It does however there is also an argument of spend £30 with what works now and if in 2 years time you move on to Wifi8 you then can buy a Wifi8 model if you want to get everything from the new phone/laptop etc or you still buy a Wifi7 device but it will now be cheaper (relatively) because its no longer the bleeding edge which always comes at a significant premium.

Perhaps a bit pedantic but It's not really wi-fi you're reliant on it's broadband. Broadband comes down a cable or fibre and wi-fi is what's squirted out from your router - wi-fi doesn't come down the cable from your supplier.

No, I realise that, sorry if I didn't explain it well.

What I meant was, I am pretty reliant on wi-fi for calls as well as wi-fi (rather than internet via a cable) for my laptop, iPad and phone.

We don't have cable or ultrafast internet either - it's fttc and my son-in-law tells me it averages about 70Mbps

In my parents' house the modem/router is upstair but the signal did not reach far downstairs. We tried a powerline adaptor but after buying this kit found the upstairs ring main was a different circuit to the downstairs rings main. (The ring main was made into 2 separate circuits when the kitchen was re-fitted including lots of new appliances).

So we used wi-fi extenders. One extender is plugged into the mains close to the router upstairs. The 2nd extender is plugged into a socket downstairs almost vertically down from the upstairs externder. This downstairs extender gives a good signal across the downstairs including to the conservatory which is in the opposite corner of the house to the downstairs extender.
