Returning replacement item out of warrenty
I bought an Abode microwave from an Amazon seller in Jan 25. By Aug 25 the microwave stopped working (unknown issue) and by Oct 25 they had sent me a replacement.
Then in late Jan 26 the microwave door button stopped working, so the door wouldn't open. I contacted the Amazon seller who said they wouldn't do anything as the microwave was 13 days out of warranty. I clarified that I had only had this microwave since Oct 26 but they said the replacement didn't get a new warranty.
I tried to contact Abode directly and had the same response.
I thought the 1 year warranty would have started again with the new microwave and regardless of the warranty, I expect a microwave to last longer than 3-4 months.
Can I do anything to get a refund? If so should I be going back to the seller or the manufacturer?

Warranties will normally align with the purchase date of the original item rather than any replacement, i.e. acquiring the second one doesn't reset the warranty clock.
However, as often emphasised on here, there's a difference between warranties (terms usually set by manufacturers) and statutory consumer rights, which hold the retailer liable. You'd need to highlight to the retailer that you're exercising your consumer rights rather than claiming under warranty, but you'd need to check dates - faults found within the first six months are assumed to have been present at the time of sale (even if latent) but after six months the burden of proof switches and it's up to the consumer to prove that the fault would have been present then (as opposed to misuse, etc).
You say you acquired the replacement in October, which was six months ago, but also refer to 3-4 months - which is it?

The seller is correct . The warranty does not renew when you get a replacement.
You may have a claim against the seller under your Consumer Rights.

One thing to check if you wish to pursue via your consumer rights - is this a UK company? (Amazon sellers aren't necessarily UK based).

They are normally in the £50-£70 range

Begs the question is it actually worth it then.

My microwave came from Asda 3 years ago. Cost £30 and still fully unctioning.

persistence is key with retailers as I'm slowly finding out- keep fighting for what you think you're entitled to but do it in a concise manner. What's the worst that can happen?

You should be fighting for what you ARE entitled to not what you think. Getting it wrong rubs peoples backs up and can cause you to get the bare legal minimum when you otherwise could have done better.
